Intense Light Matter Interactions: from Quantum Optics to Topology
強場下光與物質的相互作用:從量子光學到拓撲學
For more than three decades, harmonic generation has been the corner stone of attosecond technology, culminating in the Physics Nobel Prize in 2023. The quantum nature of the material response to light has never been in doubt, but the generated light has always been treated classically.
Can quantum matter dynamics underlying this process, triggered and controlled by the classical incident light, be mapped onto the quantum properties of the generated harmonic light? It appears that the answer is “yes”. I will present our latest results on controlled generation of quantum light in resonant atomic gases and in quantum systems coupled to structured photonic continua, such as atoms inside the waveguide. Our results suggest that the dream of generating multiple harmonics of the incident laser light entangled across multiple octaves, from the infrared (IR) to the extreme ultraviolet (XUV) range, is completely realistic.
I also hope to show how intense shaped light can be used to induce nontrivial topological properties in two-dimensional solids, and how harmonic generation can be used to sense this topological change. Whether or not the quantum properties of the harmonic light generated by the topologically nontrivial systems acquires nontrivial quantum features remains to be discovered.

Mikhail Y. Ivanov教授于1989年在Prokhorov General Physics Institute獲博士學位。Ivanov教授是超快強場物理和阿秒物理領域中的國際頂尖學者,曾在俄羅斯、波蘭、加拿大、英國、以色列、德國等國家的知名研究機構和大學從事過科研與教學工作。目前,他擔任柏林馬克斯·玻恩非線性光學與短脈沖光譜學研究所理論部主任,同時擔任柏林洪堡大學物理系的W3-S教授。他在物理學領域的傑出貢獻獲得了多個權威獎項的認可,包括2003年由加拿大皇家學會頒發的盧瑟福物理學紀念獎章(Rutherford Memorial Medals in Physics)和2004年由亞曆山大·馮·洪堡基金會頒發的貝塞爾研究獎(Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Award)。他于2022年當選歐洲科學院院士。
Mikhail Ivanov教授在極端非線性光學、阿秒與強場物理、量子控制、二維和強關聯材料中的超快動力學以及化學物理等領域中取得了衆多引領性研究成果,極大推動了現代物理學的發展。在Science、Nature、Physical Review Letters、Rev. Mod. Phys以及Nature與Science子刊等頂尖期刊上發表論文100多篇,所有論文總引用超過37,500次,H指數(Hirsch index)為80。
