主講人簡介: Yin Zhong is an Associate Professor at the Tohoku University in Japan since Nov. 2022. Before he held positions at the European XFEL in Germany as RIXS scientist from 2021-2022 and his postdoctoral work at ETH Zürich in Switzerland after he obtained his PhD from the University of Göttingen in 2016. He achieved the first observation of high-harmonic generation in bulk liquids and the first TR-XAS of chemical systems in liquid phase utilizing a water windows HHG source.

Soft X-ray (SXR) spectroscopy allows determining information about the electronic properties of the atoms and molecules in thesample. However, the majority of relevant chemical and all biochemical processes occur in the liquid phase, which poses an experimental challenge. In this talk, I will discuss the latest results from tabletop SXRsources inthe water window, driven by intense femtosecond lasers, have enabled time-resolved X-ray absorption spectroscopy (TR-XAS) to investigate structural and electronic dynamics inreal-time. It opensthe possibility of performing TR-XAS measurements in liquid samples and solutions. This spectral range covers the absorption edges of biologically relevant elements, such as carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen.
