Nano-imaging chemical properties of materials

Title: Nano-imaging chemical properties of materials Time: 10:00 am, Nov. 23, 2017 (Thursday) Venue: Room W563, Physics building, Peking University Speaker: Prof. Maarten Roeffaers 趙清 zhaoqing@pku.edu.cn Abstract: Fluorescence microscopy is a recent addition to the toolbox for in situ study of solid catalytic materials. It combines ease of use with non-invasiveness, high sensitivity and temporal resolution. Here we show how mapping of single catalytic turnovers yields nanoscale activity images of working catalysts. By recording the fluorescence signal generated by every single catalytic conversions and by accurate image reconstruction, a nanoscale activity map can be generated. Besides, using the integrated fluorescence-electron microscopy we uncovered difference in current and light driven degradation processes in perovskites. About the speaker: Prof. Maarten Roeffaers received his Ph.D. in KU Leuven in 2008, then did postdoctoral research at KU Leuven, Belgium and Harvard University. In 2011, he was promoted a Associate Professor at KU Leuven. His main research Research efforts are mainly centered around optical microscopy with the development of various fluorescence and Raman based imaging approaches as well as the combination of optical microscopy and electron microscopy.
