報告題目： Condensed Matter Physics: What Happened Since Ashcroft/Mermin and Where Is It Going? 報告人： Kun Yang （楊昆）教授 National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and Florida State University 清華大學物理系長江講座教授報告時間： 2015-7-7 9:30 am 報告地點：理科樓三樓報告廳（C302）摘要： The classic textbook by Ashcroft and Mermin, named Solid State Physics, has dominated education of graduate students in the field of condensed matter physics since its publication in 1976. Tremendous progress has been made in our field over the past 40 years, and a modern textbook replacing this aging classic is in urgent need. In this informal discussion I will report our on-going attempt to meet this need, and seek comments and advices from the audience on our work. 個人簡介： Kun Yang got his Ph.D. in the condensed matter theory from the Indiana University in1994. Three years later he worked as a postdoc at Princeton University and two years later became Sherman Fairchild's senior research fellow at California Institute of Technology. He joined the faculty of Florida State University in 1999 and since then dedicated his life to study unconventional superconductors and quantum magnetism.
