Title: Higgs and the new era of High Energy Physics Speaker: Prof. Lian-tao Wang, Chicago U., KICP Time: 2013-12-18  14:00 Place: Lecture Room C302, Department of Physics(理科樓三層C302報告廳) Abstract: The Large Hadron Collider is exploring physics at an unprecedented TeV energy frontier. The discovery of the Higgs boson is an important milestone. It provides one crucial piece of information about the weak interaction, which is the most intriguing among all known fundamental interactions in nature.  It also marked the beginning of a new stage in the search for new physics beyond the Standard Model. I will survey our current knowledge about the Higgs boson, and highlight the main unresolved puzzles about electroweak symmetry breaking,  and explain their connections to TeV scale new physics.
